Letters of Support

At Radiant Pathways, we are proud to offer letters of support for people seeking gender-affirming medical care. Our staff is trained in writing letters that align with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care (v.8).

Letters may be requested for the following:

• Hormone therapy (HRT)

  • Puberty suppression hormones​

  • Masculinizing hormones

  • Feminizing hormones

• Surgery​

  • Top surgery​

  • Bottom surgery

  • Other masculinizing and feminizing surgeries

• Documentation Changes​

  • Name change request​

  • Gender marker change request

The appropriateness of other gender-affirming letters of support will be considered on a case-by-case basis and availability may be dependent on Radiant Pathways' scope of practice.​

Radiant Pathways strives to follow an informed consent model of assessment rather than a gatekeeping model of assessment for letters of support. This means that we are here to support you in your journey, not act as a barrier to life-affirming and life-saving treatments. For many people, letters of support can be provided after a single-session assessment. While we do advocate for mental health care and the importance of mental health support, we also recognize that gender diversity, itself, is not a mental health disorder requiring ongoing mental healthcare services.

Policies

Radiant Pathways does prioritize lawful and ethical practices. In the United States, there are some states which prohibit the practice of gender-affirming care, particularly for minors. While we disagree with these laws and advocate for access to gender-affirming care for all, we are still limited in our practice by the necessity to work within the boundaries of the laws that exist in each state that we operate within.

Rates

Radiant Pathways does not charge additional fees to established clients who are seeking a letter of support for gender-affirming care.

​

For those interested in visiting Radiant Pathways for the sole purpose of getting a mental health letter of support for gender-affirming care, Radiant Pathways is able to accept any insurance that we are in-network with. More information about insurance accepted by Radiant Pathways can be found here.

In order to make letters more financially accessible to those without insurance, who are underinsured, or whose insurance we do not accept, Radiant Pathways offers letters of support for gender-affirming care at a flat rate of $25.00 to anyone not utilizing insurance. This includes one assessment session, one letter of support, and maintenance of health records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
